While they are refusing to get carried away by their 1-0 win over Bidvest Wits on Saturday, Black Leopards are confident they will avoid relegation.

Their Castle Premiership match, that saw three players been given marching orders by referee Robert Smith in the 70th minute, was played at Thohoyandou Stadium.

Despite the win, Lidoda Duvha are still firmly entrenched in the quagmire and they need to win all their remaining matches to reach safety.

"We are still faced with a big challenge, but I can assure our supporters that Black Leopards are not going to be among the teams that will be relegated at the end of the season," said coach Hans-Dieter Schmidt.

George "Soekkies" Mogotsi, Wits' administrative assistant, said they would still push for a top-eight finish: "We will continue to pull out all the stops to play in the SAA Supa 8 competition next season."

The only goal of the match was struck by Myron Shongwe in the 66th minute, four minute before Wits' Samuel Senokoane was sent off for a rough tackle on Eric Ramavhale. Wits forward Phumudzo Manenzhe and Leopards linkman Jabulani Maluleke were also sent off after an off-the-ball incident a few seconds later.
