Furious fans hurled bottles, cans and other litter on to the stage after DJ Sbu failed to show up at a gig at the Rec Club in Klerksdorp, North West, at the weekend.
DJ Sbu, whose real name is Sbusiso Leope, broke his fan's hearts with his non-appearance.
Langa Mbele, of Masekeng promotions and sound hiring, said they were disappointed by the DJ's behaviour.
"Everything was in order until the last minute," Mbele said.
Mbele said the agreement they had with the musician's manager, Sanele Dlamini, was that Sbu would perform on Saturday from 2pm.
"When we wanted to know about his whereabouts we were told he was coming," Mbele said.
But he ended up not pitching up at all, and Mbele claimed that no explanations were given.
Mbele said they had deposited R10 000 into TS records' account for the 90 minutes that DJ Sbu was due to perform.
He said Dlamini had not returned any of the messages left on his cellphone.
Mbele said at about 3pm the crowd started to chant "Where is Sbu, where is Sbu?".
DJ Sbu, who has officially started working at Ukhozi FM, broke his fan's hearts with his antics.
When the fans realised the promised hour had long passed, they started behaving violently, throwing bottles and demanding their money back.
"Sbu was the crowd-puller and their anger was understandable," Mbele said.
