After coming fourth overall in the Tour de France race last year, Pharson Magagane is now determined to win the event in Paris next month.

The 20-year-old is one of three athletes from Limpopo who will take part in this year's competition in Paris.

Others are Stanley Nkondela and Bethuel Netshifhefhe, are both from Venda.

This is part of Limpopo Sport and Recreation Council's exchange programme with their counterparts from France.

Joe Mahomole, the council's, president said, they clinched the deal with the French in 2002.

He said their athletes had benefited a lot from the deal.

"I was a bit nervous last year, but I'm much prepared and focused this time round and convinced that I will take a medal home" said Magagane, a student at the University of Limpopo.

"It was difficult for me because I was not used to run a half- marathon but I have run a few of them this year and I should do well in this race."
