Entertainment is in store for the community of Soweto and surrounding areas when street football teams take part in the National Smirnoff 1818 Raga Bolo Street Soccer Challenge finals in the township.

The inaugural tournament starts from tomorrow to Sunday at Thokoza Park in Rockville.

All teams from nine provinces will be presented at the inaugural tournament.

The first prize is a trip to play street soccer in Brazil tentatively set for August. The winner will spend a week in Brazil and all expences will be paid by the sponsors.

Teams that will take part are Tembisa's Bra Hippo, Odendaalsrus's Jazz Tavern, Phalaborwa's Mary Mary and Zwide's Missile's Tavern.

Others are Bushbuckridge's Mokanatla Liquor, Umlazi's Nje's Tavern, Mdantsane's Normans, Gugulethu's Popza Tavern and Ladysmith's Ratanang.

The competition is played in the street - never on grass or a stadium. Siyabonga Mpanza, brand manager, said: "The campaign is Smirnoff's initiative aimed at giving more ordinary men the chance to compete in the game they love. The idea is also to create township hubs for 2010 where visitors can experience African soccer at first hand.''
