David "Papa" Femich Machava has died.
Born on January 21 1942, Machava died on March 23.
He started work at a BP garage in Malvern, Johannesburg, in 1963 and later established the Christian Apostolic Free Church in South Africa.
He was married to the late Masthebe and their union was blessed with two daughters, the late Simangele and Phindile Machava.
Machava played a crucial role in ensuring that the church grew and became a success.
He was later made archbishop of the church, which had branches in in KwaZulu-Natal, Tshwane, Gauteng and outside the country in Ethobeni, near Maputo in Mozambique.
He is survived by his second wife Elizabeth, a daughter and seven grandchildren.
He will be buried on Sunday at the Slovoville Cemetery in Soweto.
The service will be held at his home and starts at 7am. The cortege will leave at 9am.
