Top players in hot water

HARARE - Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari and former Premiership player Peter Ndlovu are facing a Zimbabwean Football Association (Zifa) disciplinary committee.

HARARE - Portsmouth striker Benjani Mwaruwari and former Premiership player Peter Ndlovu are facing a Zimbabwean Football Association (Zifa) disciplinary committee.

This comes after they came to blows ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match at the weekend, Zifa's head said on Tuesday.

The players, who are allegedly not on good terms, are said to have fought over a woman, with present captain Mwaruwari accusing his predecessor of sending inappropriate text messages to his girlfriend.

The two argued in Ndlovu's hotel room and a fight ensued, which had to be broken up by teammates.

In the fracas hotel furniture and a window was damaged, but the players have said they will pay for the damage. - Sapa-DPA
