Stay in driving seat

The indefinite suspension of Metrobus services because of the strike-related attacks on its buses and the brutal killing of its drivers is unfortunate.

It inconveniences thousands of commuters who depend on the buses to travel mostly to work and school.

While the South African Municipal Workers Union has distanced itself from the attacks, we believe the violence and the strike are connected.

Our suspicions are based on the fact that none of the victims took part in the strike.

Metrobus should not have been intimidated into suspending its services and leaving commuters stranded.

They should have beefed up security.

Suspending the services is playing into the hands of the perpetrators of these dastardly deeds.
