Free State police yesterday completed the sixth day of a search to recover the body of a toddler thrown into a river last week, allegedly by her father, with no success.
Three-year-old Lerato Mofokeng was allegedly thrown into the Liebenbergvlei River by her father, Joseph Mofokeng, after he had had a fight with her mother, Thakane Mofokeng, 23, last Tuesday.
Mofokeng, of Botlokong township, outside Bethlehem, appeared in the local magistrates' court on Friday on a charge of murder, even though Lerato's body has not been found.
The case was postponed to Friday.
Police spokesman Constable Christopher Mophiring said yesterday additional police divers had been brought from Bloemfontein on Thursday but left the scene on Sunday without having found the child.
