With log leaders Auckland Blues of New Zealand having a bye this weekend, victory for the Sharks against fellow New Zealanders Wellington Hurricanes will take them to the top of the Super 14 standings.

The two meet tomorrow in Durban in a game that is expected to be a thrill-a-minute affair. Kickoff is at 7.10pm.

Coach Dick Muir and his troops started this season's southern hemisphere interprovincial competition with a bang.

The unbeaten KwaZulu-Natal outfit are in second spot on the log with 20 points from five outings, three points behind the Blues with a game in hand. The Hurricanes have been unimpressive this season and are in mid-table with 14 points from six games.

Other fixtures: Today: Chiefs v Lions (Hamilton); Reds v Western Force (Perth).

Tomorrow: Crusaders v Bulls (New Zealand); Waratahs v Stormers (Sydney); Cheetahs v Brumbies (Bloemfontein). - Meshack Khotha
