Pair in the dock for murder of tourist

Riot Hlatshwayo

Two men appeared briefly in the Graskop magistrates' court in Mpumalanga this week in connection with the February 28 murder of a Gauteng tourist, whose body was found near God's Window, Mpumalanga.

The dream of 35-year-old Fecassin Swaleiah Shaik to visit the world-famous tourist site was shattered when she was apparently raped and murdered there.

Her body was discovered not far from her car by police after members of the community notified them of an abandoned vehicle near Graskop.

She had been bound by the ankles and wrists and she had minor bruises as well as a small cut below her chin.

Vusimuzi Mokoena, 25, and Home Masinga, 23, were later arrested and charged with murder and rape.

They will appear again in court on April 2.
