A driver who lost control of his car drove into a house in Itsoseng township near Lichtenburg has left two boys with minor injuries.

The accident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The car landed in the house's dining room, where the two boys, Sesopo, 7, and Papi Selogile, 19, were sleeping.

It is believed the driver could not stop the Mercedes-Benz from driving straight into the house.

A source told Sowetan that the car had no number plates and it was thought that the owner might have just collected it from a car dealer.

The unnamed driver allegedly fled the scene immediately, leaving the car at the scene.

It was later found that he was the councillor of Sannieshof, a small town outside Lichtenburg.

The man later handed himself over to the police. A policeman at the scene refused to comment.
