Soapie studs and socialites

HThe Spy looked for some limelight after pondering the spin-offs of this job. Think about it, for the past six months if I wasn't invited to celeb-less dos, you could be sure it was just another pamphlet-distributing session with BEE-seeking younglings looking all around in vain.

HThe Spy looked for some limelight after pondering the spin-offs of this job. Think about it, for the past six months if I wasn't invited to celeb-less dos, you could be sure it was just another pamphlet-distributing session with BEE-seeking younglings looking all around in vain.

But maybe a break from the obnoxious lot otherwise known as celebrities was all I needed.

HLet's get on with it. I bumped into Mbuso T dining and speaking in hushed tones with a friend. Not that he has a file full of drama, but his perfect conduct was too disarming. Have people caught on to the face behind the Spy? I swear Mbuso put on his courtesy cap the minute he noticed yours truly.

HTwo tables away sat a very boring Bheki Sibiya who (wait for it) also happens to play the role of Bheki in Muvhango. Have the Muvhango cast decided to be in the soapie's good books by surrendering to the social outcast prerequisite? That Bheki looked like he had not had one day of fun, ever.

HWould you be surprised then that Shona Ferguson has bid the Bible cast adios in exchange for the livelier Isidingo crew? Ferguson of the killer smile and many tattoos looks like he's having the time of his life on the soapies. Why would a business hotshot suddenly develop a fetish for acting when he should be watching his wealth from under a canvas umbrella?

HSpeaking of shades and such. While we have been braving the scorcher moving from one point to the other, Iko Mash has been grilling him-herself in the sun, walking from one radio station to the next in an attempt to get his-her music played on radio.

HIf Penny Lebyane was in the country I would have put in a good word for Mash. She is said to be still in the US a month after she was allegedly doing red-carpet reporting from the Grammys early last month. Her mom says her footloose daughter has been all promises and no delivery about coming back home. Nothing will ever tame her if motherhood couldn't.

H The Spy apologises for misspelling Nothemba Madumo's name in last week's column.
