North West scriptwriter David Kabi has eventually realised his wish to plough something back into the community in the best way he knows how - creating drama for children

He is rehearsing a play, Pick 'n Choose, casting pupils, community members and a school teacher from HF Tlou High School in Rustenburg.

One of Kabi's scripts was performed on Motsweding FM last month and he will present his new play next month at the Rustenburg Civic Centre, as well as at the HF Tlou High School.

"I have always wanted to do something for the community. When the school asked me to write a play for them, as well as for the 30 schools in and around Rustenburg, I was happy.

"What is great about this production is that the money raised through ticket sales will go towards building a school hall.

"The play teaches pupils about how best they can meet challenges such as drug and substance abuse, HIV and Aids, as well as dropping out of school for whatever reason," he said.

"There is never a reason to drop out."
