The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport's initiative to launch associations of people who use public transport is long overdue.
Users of public transport have long been treated with no respect and have not been consulted on issues that affect them.
I would like to applaud Bheki Cele, the MEC for transport, community safety and liaison, and the head of the Department of Transport, Kwazi Mbanjwa, for supporting this initiative.
This structure will give passengers a voice. They will be able to give feedback if they are not happy with service operators or providers. Their rights will be protected.
