Sadtu has accused the department of failing to consult it before putting two teachers on special leave.
The teachers are the deputy principal, Phumzile Mtatase, and Thembile Mncotsho, who had been accused by parents of being troublemakers at the school.
The school governing body had accused 17 teachers, including Mtatase and Mncotsho, of abusing pupils.
Regional Sadtu chairman Sihle Mnguni accused the department of reneging on an agreement that all 17 would be allowed to return to school.
"We had an agreement that all the 17 teachers should return to the school, and we at Sadtu have not been given a report by the department about any change of decision." - Mvuyo Mati
