Mpumalanga has budgeted more than R90million to fight TB and other communicable diseases.
Health MEC Sipho Lubisi said his department planned to reduce TB-related deaths and deaths caused by other communicable diseases by 3percent.
"A budget of R94,6 million has been set aside for that purpose," said Lubisi.
He said the province improved its TB cure rate from 34percent to more than 50percent last year.
Lubisi said his department will intensify the campaign against HIV-Aids by encouraging prevention, and home-based care and treatment.
"We have set aside R40 million to support 175 community home-based care centres that support vulnerable families," he said.
The province will purchase 83 ambulances in preparation for the 2010 Soccer World Cup. A disaster management centre will be established.
The province also plans to reorganise its emergency medical services so that they can respond more quickly to calls for help.
Mpumalanga will also invest in improved aero-medical services and in basic training for ambulance assistants.
