Wanda Seele, the newly elected interim committee chairman of the 70/80 Soccer Legends in Northern Cape, said they have started negotiations with a number of companies for sponsorship.
Seele, the former Dalton Brothers player, said this after a visit to the province by a Legends delegation from Gauteng, led by Trott Moloto, last weekend.
Seele said they were having discussions with a number of companies in the province to sponsor them.
"We need funding to enable us to recruit new members from our regions and be able to hold meetings. Our organisation does not cater for former professional players only, but for everybody keen on joining and contributing to the good cause," said Seele.
Former Bafana Bafana coach and 70/80 Soccer Legends national coordinator Moloto, who facilitated the meeting in the province, said they met a number of former Dalton Brothers' players who played in the 1970s and other interested parties.
Moloto, who went down to Premier Dipuo Peters' province with his delegation, said the reception was unbelievable.
"Some people were happy to meet us and the meeting itself was well attended," said Moloto.
He said elections will be held in May and new office bearers will be elected.
Seele is chairman of the interim committee and Jomo Itumeleng is the secretary. Additional members are Thandi Mfolo, Meisie Buffen, Dickson Mathobela, Joseph Sekowa, Lucas Paulus, Qinga Wells, Ephraim Tau and Rufus Mokunupi.
