Koyo Bala, social butterfly and member of the stylish gay group 3Sum, has been admitted to a private clinic in Gauteng - but no one will say what is wrong.
Bala apparently collapsed on arrival in Gauteng this week. He had just arrived from Cape Town where 3Sum, made up of Amstel Makwane and Jeff Moyo, had been performing at the weekend.
Talking to Sowetan from his hospital bed, Bala said he hoped to be discharged soon.
"I am just praying that I get out of this place soon. The doctors want to keep me for a while and run some tests. I am feeling weak at the moment and can't talk to you. Let me rest please," he said, before putting the phone down.
Sources close to 3Sum claim that something is amiss with the stylish group.
"I don't want to say they use substances, but I would not rule that out. They always seem to be high and hyperactive.
"Look at what is happening to Koyo and it does not surprise us. It's something we expected. How can you attend each and every party, day in and day out without taking something?" the source said.
Approached for comment yesterday Amstel denied the claims.
"All we need is to pray for Koyo. Whoever told you that nonsense about substance abuse must get out of our lives."
