Zambian soccer legend Kalusha Bwalya, right, is impressed by the enthusiasm showed by South Africa in its quest to host the 2010 World Cup.
Speaking at the Stars in their Eyes development clinics in Cape Town Town last week, Bwalya said he was happy to assist South Africa in the preparations.
"This is a great achievement for South Africa and for Africa. Little did I know that the World Cup would be hosted in Africa in my lifetime.
"I wake up every day, happy that the World Cup tournament is coming to Africa. Fifa has entrusted South Africa with a world class event.
"People forget that when Germany started preparing for the previous World Cup, many critics were also sceptical that they would meet all their deadlines.
"But they did. There will always be those who are negative. I have no doubt in my mind that South Africa will be ready."
Kalusha commended the Western Cape Culture Affairs and Sport MEC Whitey Jacobs for his vision in launching Stars in their Eyes. - Sowetan Reporter
