Battlefield expert David Rattray's murderer, Fethe Sibusiso Nkwanyana, yesterday appeared in the Dundee magistrates' court on an unrelated robbery charge.
Nkwanyana, 23, is serving 25 years in the Durban Westville Prison for murdering Rattray on January 26. He is also accused of committing a robbery in December 2000 at the Rorkes Drift museum.
It is alleged that he took R11 75 after pointing a firearm at a museum employee.
Nkwanyana entered the court accompanied by heavily armed correctional services officers and SAPS personnel. He kept his eyes downcast when told about his rights in court. He wore a dark suit and brown shoes and was handcuffed and shackled with leg irons.
The case was postponed until March 6 while his application for a legal representative is processed.
Meanwhile, Nkwanyana's co-accused in the murder of Rattray, Simphiwe Ndlovu, also made a brief appearance in the same court for his part in the killing.
His case was postponed until April 10 to give police more time to track down three other suspects. Ndlovu was implicated by Nkwanyana in Rattray's death, but during the bail application Ndlovu denied knowing Nkwanyana.
The court also heard that Ndlovu was wanted in connection with two rape cases.
