Twenty-eight female guards were unfairly dismissed by a security company because the client‚ Metrora.
In an attempt to revive their stable after the surprise departure of multiple-award winning duo Brown Dash and Ntando, TS Records has courted Mafikizolo's lead singer Nhlanhla Mafu, Sowetan learnt yesterday.
The recording company is co-owned by DJ Sbu and Thembinkosi Nciza, who is Mafu's husband.
It emerged yesterday that Mafu will be going solo and has started recording some songs within her husband's company.
A source, who is close to the parties and who asked not to be named, said: "It is happening. A couple of tracks have already been done.
"She is not leaving Mafikizolo though. She will only be going on her own for a while.
"She loves Mafikizolo wholeheartedly because they are what made her.
"Renowned producer Robby Malinga is behind the production of the new album, which is expected to be released sometime in September.
"Obviously the timing is fine considering that Ntando and Brown Dash have left the stable.
"They need someone like her to help it be a force to be reckoned with.".
Metro FM's DJ Azania Ndoro hinted to her listeners on her breakfast show on Friday after playing one of Mafikizolo's tracks that the popular singer will be joining TS Records.
Nciza, however, was quick to dismiss the claims as misleading when he was approached to shed light on them yesterday.
"If there is such a thing we will let you know, but I can't say anything because there is nothing like this," he said.
"At this stage it is not even a consideration because Mafikizolo is big and Nhlanhla is focusing on that at the moment."
When approached yesterday, Mafu herself downplayed her joining TS Records.
"It is just a rumour and it will remain just that," she said.
She did, however, reveal that she will go solo in the near future.
