She could face disciplinary action for her conduct.

"The MEC got enraged and most people had to run for cover," Limpopo legislature spokesman Kenny Mathivha said yesterday.

But Mashamba's spokesman, Adele van der Linde, denied Mashamba had misbehaved.

Mashamba was asked by one of the province's portfolio committees to produce proof that her son, Wisani, was qualified for his job as deputy manager of the provincial government's human resources department.

United Independent Front leader Ike Kekana was "very vocal about corruption", said Mathivha, and Mashamba lost her temper.

Van der Linde said Mashamba had asked Kekana to return documents about her son because Kekana was not a member of the committee.

"His reaction was to jump up and run around the table, before leaping onto the table, for reasons known only to him."
