Council mum over sacking

The future of Mpumalanga's controversial 2010 Soccer World Cup coordinator, Differ Mogale, still hangs in the balance.

Despite the Johannesburg labour court's order that Mogale be redeployed to any other position within the Mbombela municipality pending the outcome of investigations which were to have been concluded by February 12, the municipality is silent about his future.

Mogale, 38, was sacked because he was allegedly appointed without following procedure by municipal manager Jacob Dladla. But he won the court case after taking the municipality to court for unfair dismissal.

The court said the municipality's decision to nullify Mogale's position as coordinator did not constitute termination of his employment.

Mogale said: "I am disappointed at the municipality because I want to know where I stand. The deadline is long gone and no one is saying anything." - Alfred Moselakgomo
