Durban mother Mpume Ngcobo, whose 17-year-old daughter, Khanyisile, was abducted on April 17 last year has not given up hope of finding her daughter alive.

The matriculant from Durban's Wentworth High is believed to have been abducted by a group of men.

For the past 10 months, Ngcobo has spent sleepless nights worrying about what has happened to her daughter.

In October Ngcobo received a call from Khanyi saying she had been kidnapped. Her daughter used a phone sneaked to her by a former schoolmate.

"We traced the number and contacted the girl. She said she had been at a party in Umlazi and had seen Khanyisile.

"We asked her to show us where the party had taken place.

"She took us to Umlazi's J section and we looked everywhere, but didn't find Khanyi," said Ngcobo.

After Sowetan published Khanyisile's story, police arrested 29-year-old Sibusiso Nkosi in December on a charge of kidnapping

He will appear in court again tomorrow.
