"Mama Jackey ruined my life," a former student of Jackey Maarohanye's Ithuteng Trust told Sowetan yesterday.
"I can't get work because of the lies she told about me," said Simphiwe Ncuguthu, 24, of Bophelong in the Vaal Rand.
Ncuguthu was accused of attempted rape and was arrested after allegedly being assaulted by Maarohanye's students last year.
"I was on my way to work when I was confronted by Lucky Lubada. He said he had been waiting for me because I knew too much about what went on at the school," said Ncuguthu.
Ncuguthu said he had been "close" to Maarohanye and had worked in her office "filing invoices".
"A group of students suddenly came out of nowhere with knobkierries, pipes and sticks. They took me to Mama Jackey's BMW, which must have been hidden nearby."
He said he was then taken to Maarohanye's office, where he was stripped, kicked and beaten.
He said a girl came to alert Mama Jackey that the police were arriving, but when they came they arrested Ncuguthu.
"Maarohanye instructed the girl to tell the police I had broken into the hostel and had tried to rape her."
Ncuguthu was held at Johannesburg Prison for six days. "I still think about what happened every day," said Ncuguthu.
