Police at Port Elizabeth's Motherwell township yesterday fired stun grenades at an unruly crowd throwing stones at a Somali- owned van as the owners attempted to remove stock from a shop.
The store was the only one of the foreign- owned shops in the area to escape looting.
The owners were trying to carry away as many goods as they could salvage to a safe place.
A Somali-owned store was burnt down and several others were looted by community members on Monday night after a 15-year-old boy was shot and wounded during an attempted robbery at one of the shops. Six Somalis and four locals have been arrested. -Sapa
