One of South Africa's premier arts events, the Cape Town Festival, is back. It takes place between March 3 and March 24.
The eighth Cape Town Festival boasts more than 140 shows to please all tastes.
It represents most genres in contemporary arts and culture.
The festival features more than 45 productions of dance, theatre, classical and contemporary music, hip-hop and choral music, poetry, magic and puppet theatre.
Yusuf Ganief, the festival's chief executive said: "This year's festival programme is the result of a collective effort by artists, traders, crafters, events organisers, technical suppliers, volunteers and, equally important, our many sponsors and venue stakeholders.
"We showcase the talents and excellence of various cultures, both local and international, in our attempt to depict not only our uniqueness, but also to highlight our common humanity through the arts."
Events take place at Artscape, Baxter Theatre, Intimate Theatre, Joseph Stone Auditorium, Distrix Cafe, Manenberg Jazz Cafe, On Broadway and in Durbanville.
l The Youth Festival is aimed at creating awareness of the arts and promoting cultural understanding. It takes place from March 5 to March 9 at the Company's Garden Precinct and Iziko Museum. Short films will be screened at the V&A Waterfront's amphitheatre.
