Peter Hedblom ended an 11-year European Tour drought by holding his nerve to win the Maybank Malaysian Open by a single stroke in Kuala Lumpur.

Hedblom, 37, last tasted success on the European Tour when he won the Moroccan Open back in 1996, but returned to the winners' circle in Malaysia.

He birdied two of his last three holes to end with a final round score of 68, four under par, to finish on eight under for the tournament.

His score at the Saujana Golf and Country Club's Palm course saw him victorious by just a single stroke, with Frenchman Jean-Francois Lucquin in second after his five-under round of 67. England's Simon Dyson shared third place with Ignacio Garrido of Spain.- Sky Sport
