The former executive mayor of Nelson Mandela Bay, Nceba Faku, and the outspoken regional deputy chairman of the ANC, Mike Xego, are set to fight for the regional chairmanship of the party in a battle that has split the party in the region.
Xego is acting chairman after the departure of former regional chairman Stone Sizani. who was elected provincial party head last year.
Senior members of the party remain tight-lipped over the deep divisions caused by the bitter battle since Faku threw his name into the hat.
Sources claim the party has been cast into two distinct supporter camps.
