The case against a magistrate accused of releasing 12 awaiting-trial prisoners because she was too tired and hungry to hear their cases has been struck from the court roll, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said yesterday.
Lucinda Moonieya, an NPA spokesman, said the matter would proceed after the deputy national director had studied the docket.
It was reported earlier that magistrate Kubashnie Padayachee, 34, faces one count of defeating the ends of justice.
Padayachee allegedly refused to handle the 12 prisoners' cases in September because she was only told about them after 4pm. - Sapa
