You can't buy style. You either have it or you don't. Mama Adelaide Tambo had it.
She was, literally, a woman of many hats.
Fashionistas and ordinary folks couldn't wait to see what she would be wearing next.
And she always lived up to the occasion - be it a funeral, a wedding or the opening of parliament, where she had become one of the "must-see" guests.
Always dressed to the nines, be it in African attire or an outfit with a Western influence, Ma Tambo oozed confidence and carried it off well.
Through the years she became known for her flamboyant head-gear that ranged from spiral creations to hats adorned with peacock feathers.
Her style was bold, bright and daring and though she was almost 80, she still managed to be a show stopper.
February 9, the opening of parliament, will not be the same without her extravagant outfits, matching as they did from the tip of her toes to the top of her head.
