The Bloemfontein regional court yesterday sentenced Sandile Tsopo, husband of Free State education MEC Ouma Tsopo, pictured, to four years for fraud.
Tsopo, his sister Martha Nombulelo Nqulo and Nitja Daniel Makhathini were earlier found guilty of defrauding the Education Department of more than R360000.
Ouma Tsopo was health MEC when her husband was implicated.
Nqulo was sentenced to two years and Makhathini to four. They appealed. That hearing will be held on February 1. - Sapa
