Windfall for three schools

Three top schools in the Mopani district of Limpopo have received R40 000 from the office of executive Mayor Humphrey Mokgobi as a token of appreciation for making the district proud with their sterling matric performance.

Khanyisa Secondary School and Masiza High School, both in Giyani, each got R15000 as an acknowledgement of their continuous 100 percent pass rate. The third, Kwangulatilo High School, which achieved an 82percent pass, received R10 000.

"We have been encouraged by the pass rate at these high schools situated in rural areas. They serve as an inspiration to other schools in our area," Mokgobi said.

He said they hoped the investments would encourage the schools and those in the neighbourhood to work even harder.

"It is encouraging to see rural schools working hard to produce 100percent pass rates these days. Despite all the challenges, they are working hard to improve their results."

Mokgobi said the district encouraged other schools in the region to start teaching earlier in the year so that they would have enough time to revise at the end of the year.
