More problems have befallen the disgraced big-spending former secretary in the presidency, Lebohang Molotsane, and her husband.

When they appeared in the Vereeniging magistrates' court yesterday, Molotsane, 25, and her husband, Benjamin Moeketsi Matli, 29, got another rude awakening when additional fraud charges amounting to more than R30000 were added to the charge sheet.

Molotsane was initially charged with fraudulently using a presidential letterhead to dupe the Riviera on Vaal Hotel into believing that the office of the president would pay for her classy wedding on December 15 that amounted to more than R50 000.

"The director-general in the office of the president and other office bearers would be on the guest list, therefore the venue would be security cleared prior to the event," she said in the letter.

The company from which she hired a four-horse carriage, costing R8 000, was promised a similar letter, but did not receive it.

Regarding the latest but unrelated charges, prosecutor Lennie Hannekom told the court that the couple twice defrauded a Bedfordview, Johannesburg, car hire company of about R26 000 and R8 000 respectively. No further details were given.

Hannekom said Molotsane had not surrendered her passport to the police as ordered by the court.
