Viewers of SABC2's Tshivenda drama series Muvhango will miss the pretty face of Pontso Mokoena - it emerged yesterday that she has been fired from the popular series.
Mokoena would not confirm that she had been fired, but said that she was no longer part of the series.
A source insisted yesterday that Mokoena had been fired "for underperforming".
"She was asked to reaudition for her role because the producers were no longer happy with her performance. The last straw was when she questioned the management about her contract.
"She is very angry. They dumped her like a rotten potato when they realised that she was demanding what is rightfully due to her.
"I can assure you that more people will leave the series because things are not done in a proper way."
Muvhango's executive producer, Duma ka Ndlovu, would neither confirm nor deny that Mokoena had left the series.
"I believe we should handle this matter during a media briefing and I can't say anything now."
Mokoena plays Meme in the series, a young, attractive executive. She is involved in a relationship with James, played by Dingaan Mokebe. She will be seen for the last time in the series in May.
Others who have left Muvhango are Joyce Skefu (Doris), Aubrey Pooe (Pelo), Shonisani Muleya (Simon), Richard Mwamba (Johnny), Mpho Tsedu (Edward), Siphiwe Hlabangane (Kolo) and Lerato Moloi (Refiloe).
