Lehurutshe Birds United are hoping that their success in the Absa Cup will help to market the club in North West and surrounding areas.

United are one of the eight amateur clubs who have qualified for the last-32 stage of the local version of the FA Cup.

Odirile Tolo, United's chief executive officer, said it was a dream come true for them to have booked a place in the last-32 stage.

"There is no doubt that reaching the last-32 will help improve the image of the club in terms of branding purposes.

"We expect more people to start associating with the club. The support base will increase tremendously if we go all the way."

Tolo was quick to point out that winning the Vodacom Promotional League in North West still remained their top priority this season.

United, who have produced the legendary Lucas "Rhoo" Radebe when they were still campaigning in the now defunct Bopsol, are sixth on the log.

Some of the other top amateur clubs who have qualified are Mighty FC from Seshego in Limpopo and Mpumalanga's Leandra. Kenny Ndlazi, former South African Under-23 assistant coach, is coach of Leandra, who are making their second consecutive appearance in the Last-32.

The other five clubs who have qualified for the last-32 stage are:

Bloemfontein Young Tigers (Free State), Yebo Yes (Gauteng), Island (KwaZulu-Natal), Moresterjeug (Northern Cape) and Ajax Cape Town (Western Cape).
