A hat trick from Madoda Motha helped Barberton City Stars to a 3-2 win over FC Henemat in an action-packed Mpumalanga Vodacom League match at Barberton prison ground on Saturday.

After taking an early 2-0 lead, Stars almost threw the game away after allowing the visitors to level matters.

Motha scored his first two goals in the 17th and 22nd minutes. Just before the interval Ebnah Sithole reduced the deficit to 2-1.

Touch Sikhosane leveled matters in the 62nd minute.

An error by Henemat goalkeeper Madel Matsane gifted Motha his third, when everybody had expected the match to end in a 2-all draw.

The goal came after Matsane failed to clear a back pass from Sipho Rihlamfu. The ball fell to Madoda who tapped into an empty net to complete his hat trick.

Said Henemat coach Mike Nkosi: "We made a great comeback only to lose the game after a lapse of concentration in our last line of defence."

Other results: FC Sporting 2, ELB Movers 0; FC Barcelona 1, FC Benfica 1; Walter Stars 2, Leandra 2; Winners 0, Mpumalanga Black Aces 3; MP Highlanders 1, Batau Killers 0.
