Miners at the West Driefontein mine in Carletonville could drown in a river of sweat, blood and tears - the aftermath of the finals of the Baby Champs tonight.

Fierce competition is expected from all 32 participants in this last leg of Boxing South Africa's development programme at Masizakhe Arena at the North West gold mine.

Finalists are from Gauteng, Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, North West, Eastern and Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal.

Clashes that should keep fans on the edge of their seats are those between Bongani Mwelase of Gauteng and Page Tshesane of Mpumalanga, and Bongani Mahlangu of Gauteng against Macbute Sinyabi of Eastern Cape.

Bones could also crack when Siyanda Mfundisi and Themba Joyi of Eastern Cape clash.

Tshepang Mohale's opponent, Winston Innes from KwaZulu-Natal, is believed to have emigrated to Australia.

The tournament is scheduled to start at 7pm.
