A male nurse was found murdered on Wednesday. He had been missing since the weekend.

Albert Mautla, 39, who worked at the Mookgophong clinic in Naboomspruit, Limpopo, left the nurses' residence at the clinic on Saturday in his new red Golf, which had no number plates.

Mautla's colleagues at the nurses' residence raised the alarm and reported his disappearance to the police.

Captain Gabashane Moseki, spokesman for the Waterberg police, said a police search began on Sunday.

Mautla's body was found by grass cutters working at the Boekenhout off-ramp in Modimolle on Wednesday.

His cellphone had been taken.

"There was an open wound on his head and bruises on his body," Moseki said.

Mautla's car was discovered abandoned in Phahameng location in Modimolle.

A man, 26, will appear in the Mookgophong magistrates' court today charged with hijacking and murder .

The police expect to make more arrests soon.
