A police reservist who allegedly assaulted popular radio personalities Alex Mthiyane and Sithembiso Shangase has been suspended.
Superintendent Zethu Ngobese yesterday confirmed that the police have taken action against the reservist.
"Apart from the criminal case laid against him by Shangase, we have conducted departmental investigation because it is unacceptable for police to act the way he did," said Ngobese.
Mthiyane and Shangase were arrested at the weekend after a scuffle outside Mthiyane's house in Durban North.
Shangase got into a heated argument with a plainclothes police officer who wanted to search him.
Shangase said a commotion ensued and Mthiyane filmed it, but the police took his camera.
The duo laid counter charges.
