Jabu Khanyile, whose death sparked a battle for his estate between his two wives, left behind one official widow.

Sowetan is in possession of the copy of the decree of divorce for Khanyile's first marriage - from first wife Nomasonto Daphney Khanyile, 49.

It was filed with the answering affidavit by his second wife, Khululiwe Gloria Sithole, 38, in the Johannesburg high court yesterday.

Sithole was interdicted by Nomasonto last month to stop withdrawing money from Khanyile's estate, return all money taken from it, including three luxury cars, furniture, and to account for all monies collected before the musician's death.

In her affidavit Sithole said Nomasonto's interdict to stop her from collecting money from the deceased's estate and to stop the second respondent, the Master of high court, "from appointing her as the executrix of the estate", was unfounded and premature.

Sithole said Khanyile paid ilobolo for her in 1998 and admitted they married officially four days before his death. She said Khanyile paid ilobolo for her after Nomasonto begged her to join her and become Khanyile's second wife.

"She informed me that she liked me and welcomed me into the Khanyile family as the deceased's second wife," Sithole said.

She said Khanyile moved in with her in 2000 after he had an argument with Nomasonto.
