Mlungisi Hlongwane, president of the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco), was called a clown who has lost his mind and should not be taken seriously by the public.
Hlogwane, pictured, disbanded the Gauteng and Limpopo provincial leadership, and suspended seven members of the national coordination committee on Sunday.
Yesterday both provinces rejected the dissolution, and accused Hlongwane of losing the organisation's grip and his mind.
Gauteng spokesman Lucas Qakaza said Hlongwane and the national working committee (NWC) members have no authority to arrive at that decision because a vote of no confidence was passed at the aborted Bloemfontein congress.
"The NWC's term of office came to an end in April 2005 and they have been unable to organise a conference since then," said Qakaza.
Limpopo secretary- general, Nelson Ntsewa, said Hlongwane's statements would not confuse people in the province.
"Members of Sanco and residents are aware of what is happening around them," he said.
