Great home record inspires Students

George Mogotsi, Bidvest Wits' manager, says their long-time unbeaten record at home has inspired them to do well against Jomo Cosmos in their Castle Premiership match at Milpark Stadium on Sunday (3.45pm).

The Students are also motivated by the growing number of bums on seats at their games when they play at home.

"We have never lost an official match at home since last season and this has instilled a sense of encouragement among the players," Mogotsi said yesterday.

"We have reached a crucial stage of the league and we want to try hard not to lose, especially at home.

"Cosmos are a very formidable team and we expect them to throw everything at us for a win. They will not be demoralised by the fact that they are no longer with [Chris] Katongo.

"They have players such as Anthony Laffor and Dikgang Mabalane who are capable of scoring. But we also have players who are worth their salt and I'm positive they will manage to stand up and be counted on the day."

Cosmos' team manager Andrew Rabutla stressed yesterday that they had enough players to fill the gap left by Katongo, who has been sold to Brondby in Denmark.

"We have the likes of Calvin Kadi, Lethola Mofokeng and Bonginkosi Macala who are capable of scoring," Rabutla said yesterday.

"We respect Wits and I can't say we will beat them. This is going to be a tough match for both teams, though."
