Former Kaizer Chiefs player Junior Khanye is training with Mpumalanga Vodacom side Leandra FC with the aim of reviving his crumbling career.

The wayward player started to train with the Absa Cup last 32 qualifiers last Monday.

Kenny Ndlazi, Leandra coach, said: "We are still assessing the player, but at the moment we are happy with his conduct at training. He is committed and is working hard with the other players."

If Khanye is signed he is expected to make his debut when Leandra host Batau Killers at Leandra Stadium on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Ndlazi said they want to better last year's performance in this year's Absa Cup.

Last season Leandra qualified to the last 32 but they were bundled out by Black Leopards.

"Our intention this season is to advance beyond the last 32. We are also targeting winning the league to qualify for the National First Division next year," said Ndlazi.

To make their intentions clear this season Leandra have roped in Ghanaian under-23 international Ernest Owasu

The youngster has since made a deadly combination with Themba Mahlangu and Sifiso Myeni.

Khanye could not be reached for comment as his cellphone remained switched off.
