"Mark my words!"

This was a promise that self-proclaimed king of kwasa kwasa Malo a Botseba made yesterday when he declared that he would pass his matric this year.

Malo, whose real name is Steven Sefofa, said he was determined to achieve six distinctions at the end of the year.

He will be among the many pupils going back to school on Wednesday. The musician passed grade 11 at Masopha high school in Bolobedu last year.

The 44-year-old former taxi operator said he was going to surprise many people who did not take him seriously.

"This is not a joke. I am going to work hard to make sure that I pass all my subjects with flying colours. I have already started to plan my schedule on how to go about it and, with hard work and determination, six distinctions is not a dream. With limited resources I will succeed because I am going to focus on my books," said Sefofa.

Sefofa has in the past declared that he was hooked on gambling and lost a fleet of taxis as a result.
