Dedicated to welfare

Soweto's beloved social worker, Nomalanga Motloung, has died.

Motloung began working for the Department of Social Welfare at 21 and was the youngest person to be appointed at the time.

She also became a member of the South African National Tuberculosis Association and dedicated her free time to raising awareness about the disease.

At the time of her death, Motloung was stationed at the Roodepoort Civic Centre.

She ensured that caregivers received the qualifications that would enable them to use the latest procedures in caring for those she helped.

She will be buried on Saturday.

The service will be at the Meadowlands Welfare Centre from 8.30am. - Kamogelo Seekoei
