Athletics Gauteng North will target more disadvantaged children from the area for development this year.
Andre Golbey, the head of AGN's cross-country department. said the organisation was planning to reach more than the 38 children they identified last year.
"The Gauteng department of sports and recreation donated R20 000 towards the implementation of development programmes last year.
"This year, the amount was increased to R50000. Hopefully, the money will take us even further in the identification and training of the kids. It is also up to us to make sure that they attend all events," Golbey said.
Golbey said he was satisfied with the level of talent available to him.
