Following are some of the features of the 2007 FedExCup, which will culminate in a four-event playoff series with $10 million (about R70 million) to be won by the overall champion:
l Players will earn points from every PGA Tour event, with more points on offer at World Golf Championships tournaments. The top counting events will be the Players Championship and the four majors;
l Regular PGA Tour events will award 25 000 points, with 26 250 up for grabs at the first three WGC events and 27 500 at the four majors and the Players Championship;
l Thirty-six tournaments will make up the regular season before the big-money playoffs are held, ending with the September 13-16 Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia for the top 30 players;
l After the August 16-19 Carolina Classic in Greensboro, North Carolina, the top 144 players will qualify for the playoffs, being seeded according to their FedExCup ranking with the points reset;
l The leader will start the playoff series with 100 000 points, with second place on 99 000 points and a graduated drop-on down the order, allowing players lower in the list to jump up with a victory or strong finish;
l The playoffs will begin with the Barclays Classic in New York from August 23 to 26 and the field will be cut to 120 for the Deutsche Bank Championship in Norton, Massachusetts. - Reuters
