Millions intended to be spent on the health needs of Eastern Cape residents have gone missing from d.
Two close friends and neighbours were rescued from an angry mob which had accused them of being wizards.
The two, who were found naked by the mob, were severely assaulted but were saved by the police.
Adam Nkabinde, 30, and Mandla Simelane, 30, of Block F, Ekangala, in Mpumalanga, said they were sitting in Nkabinde's house when they were swept away during a heavy thunderstorm on Saturday afternoon.
They landed, stark naked, at Vlaklaagte 2, about 50km away.
"I have no idea how we came here. I only remember descending from somewhere.
"I only realised we were naked when people who were drinking at my former in-laws' house were looking at us," Nkabinde said.
"Then more people gathered around and started attacking us and calling us wizards."
Nkabinde, who sustained serious head injuries, related his ordeal while at the Kwaggafontein Clinic on Saturday night.
After they were apprehended by the mob they were frog-marched to the local soccer field. They were rescued by police before being stoned to death.
Superintendent Malculm Mokomene of Highveld area police said no arrests had been made yet.
He said they were investigating cases of attempted murder and assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
The families of the two believe Nkabinde and Simelane were bewitched.
