Saru fans flames of racist fans

People who hoisted the apartheid flag both in England and at the OR Tambo International Airport recently show that they are not ready for change.

People who hoisted the apartheid flag both in England and at the OR Tambo International Airport recently show that they are not ready for change.

I have a different view as to what is the cause of such despicable acts.

Firstly, I blame Saru as the rugby organisation for this country for not being prepared to break away from the past. They have failed to embrace transformation. They have consistently stuck to two black players a game and in the process deprived thousands of aspiring black rugby players opportunities.

Saru is not different from those racists who hoisted the apartheid flags.

Maybe Saru tolerated a few black players just to get government and other stakeholders off their backs, but those racist fans showed they do not want blacks.

By failing to align itself with transformation, Saru has given racists fertile ground to continue to irritate us.

Government is also to blame for not dictating to Saru because it does not want to alienate whites in this country.

The way things are, it looks like government will have to do something, otherwise we are going to lose all the gains of our democracy.
